The time you spend on the road by yourself teaches you to deal with your own thoughts. All of a sudden you become way more conscious about your own decisions and choices. Important is to stick with them. To believe in this decision you took as the best decision for you and your happiness. And accept everything that comes with it".</image:caption>

<image:caption>Pescadores. Photo by Theo De Gueltzl Story published in the WATERJOURNAL.CO.UK Punta Lobos is named after the pods of seals that used to gather at the shore. It is also the beach where local fishermen used to launch their pangas into the waves and sell their fresh fish. Recently, the real-estate project of „Tres Santos“ turned Punta Lobos into a construction site, using the harmonious space for their ventures benefits.</image:caption>

<image:title>Personal Work - Out Of Office Creative Ways of Living: Sophie Strobele</image:title>
<image:caption>At this point in my life, I’ve adopted a seasonal approach to how I live, rather than deciding exactly what every day or month should look like. I’ve learned to accept the ebb and flow, recognizing when I feel more introverted or tired, when I want to tap into creativity or focus on more resourcing and healing activities, rather than being overly social or collaborative. I don’t judge these phases; I try to honor them. I listen to my body and mind to understand what feels right and where I can dive deepest. I don’t want to call it “efficiency,” but more about being fully immersed in what feels good at the time. I have to admit, though: I’m terrible at routines. I think it's different for everyone, and my career in fashion, with all the travel, has made it hard for me to stick to one. Every day is different, and I’ve learned to appreciate the freedom that brings.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Mennonites. Photo by Theo De Gueltzl Text on the Mennonite Community We enter a holy world. A world without immorality. Jealousy, hatred and violence are of no concern. Institutions like police and advocates are not part of the community. Golden light stretches over the fruitful land. A land of agriculture. Corn, beans and soy. These are the main produce and income of the Mennonites, a religious community in Central America, Belize.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Rancheros. Photo by Theo de Gueltzl The Sierra Laguna is a rough environment, which makes life here very challenging. To get by, inhabitants of this area keep cattle. The dry soil and limited water supply makes it impossible for them to grow anything. Their only source of water comes from the high points of the Sierra Laguna. Today the few water tables that exist there are in danger. Pollution caused by ongoing mining activities and an over use by numerous estate developments put the little water supply on risk. Besides the water scarcity, an increasing occurrence of hurricanes poses another serious threat to the inhabitants of the Sierra Laguna. Due to climate change, the 2015 Pacific hurricane season was identified as the second most active on record, with a historic high of 30 tropical depressions and 26 named storms. 16 of them reached hurricane strength, while a record of 11 turned into major hurricanes.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Personal Work - Roma</image:title>
<image:caption>Roma. Photo by Theo de Gueltzl Baia Mare, a mining town in the north of Rumania, first attracted public attention in2000 as the site of the worst environmental disaster in Europe since the Chernobyl nuclear accident. A huge chemical (cyanide) spill by a gold mining company polluted rivers and drinking water and caused widespread damage in Rumania, Hungary and Serbia, spreading through the Danube until the Black Sea. The situation remains similarly disastrous for the Roma minority living in Baia Mare. Although the former mayor of the town Catlin Chereches provoked public outrage in 2011 with the construction of a wall around the Cuprom ghetto segregating the town’s Roma, followed by several attempts of forced eviction, the situation does not seem to have improved.</image:caption>

This travel diary is an amalgam of Bozalp’s exploration of self through colour, composition and space. Bozalp was precipitously captivated by its people, their spirituality and their relationship with nature; compelling him to immerse himself in the experience through his camera lens. With Art Direction by Jessica Pichet, the exhibition and publication’s highlight the duality between spirituality and modernity and embraces the theme of Nepal’s use of rich colour.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Curation - If there’s space I’ll stay</image:title>
<image:caption>Patrick Bienert, Suzanna Spertsyan In our memory, we create a world of personal meaning, where we belong because we remember. Within a family, this recollection becomes even further mythologised as stories are passed down between generations. Photographed in the villages of Teghut and Margahovit in northern Armenia, this series combines fictional scenes with visual metaphors as fragments of collective memory. It depicts family characters who inhabit the space between the fictional and the real. These characters are pictured within the absence of an essential family figure, the young father. In Armenia, the family has been historically considered as the most important social unit. It is common for multiple generations to live together under one roof. Women are primarily responsible for domestic duties and childcare while men provide financially.</image:caption>

This is his last chance—a 1,550 km journey through winter’s harshest landscapes, a closed-door experience spanning three months. Each day is a choice: walk forward or return to the past situation. The road becomes a metaphor, where each step might signify a new beginning or a return to old patterns. From the very beginning, this project has been supported by Sheriff Gallery, whose backing provided not just logistical support but also a space for Edoardo to engage in deeper conversations about the intersection of art, life, and the profound relationship between artist and subject.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Curation</image:title>
<image:caption>The photographic series “From the Ocean to the Forest” delves into the practice of capturing dolls in various settings, presenting a compelling exploration of the nuanced interplay between fantasy and reality, desire, imagination, and fleeting nostalgia. Set against the backdrop of Japanese scenery, the series juxtaposes these doll-like figures within clichéd landscapes, serving as a poignant reflection of the myriad narratives and visual tropes that saturate our c ltural perception of romantic ideals. At its core, the series revolves around the portrayal of human dolllike subjects amidst diverse settings, blending the allure of romance with the familiarity of Japanese scenery. This juxtaposition taps into cultural stereotypes and clichés, creating a sense of familiarity and preconceived notions that resonate with viewers even before they visited these locations. It’s a testament to the power of visual culture in shaping our perception of place and narrative. Within this cultural context, the exploration of romanticism yields a nuanced portrayal that evokes innocence tinged with nostalgia, channeling cinematic and performative sensibilities. Each composition draws upon a rich reservoir of visual references associated with romantic storytelling, enhancing the ethereal presence of the doll figure as a cherished entity.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Curation - If there’s time I’ll sing</image:title>
<image:caption>Antoine Daviaud, Nensi Avetisian When we seek spiritual transcendence, we often turn to singing as a means of self-expression, we sing to overcome. Armenia has a rich tradition of clerical singing that is deeply rooted in the country’s Christian history. It was one of the first nations to officially adopt Christianity as the state religion in the early 4th century (301 AD). Along with the practice of the Armenian Apostolic Church, a rich tradition of spiritual folk songs is maintained in the country. These songs often reflect themes of faith, nature, and the relationship between the divine and the earthly. In modern day Armenia, many individuals and families preserve this cultural and spiritual heritage by performing spiritual music and singing in the country’s numerous empty churches.</image:caption>

<image:caption>“I am now nearing the end of a transitional period— relocating from Ukraine to France, from one cultural environment to another, the liminal state of waiting in an empty hall of some obscure administrative institution. Where does one go after passing through the filtration zone in which the knowledge that is no longer useful sheds off? It feels like owning a rotten apple. How can one cope? It is overripe, most likely past its expiration date. Is it something to drop or something that should be taken further? Inedible, yet also a fertiliser for new ground—like classic religious narratives that do not feel sacred in this moment, but instead provide us with new symbols.” tymur postovyї</image:caption>

For the launch of Collection VI: MarcoLoco AW 23/24, Marco invited people to experience his universe at Sheriff Gallery, a space that aims to evoke the feeling that has inspired this collection.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Art direction - IN/VISIBLE</image:title>
<image:caption>IN/VISIBLE is a collaboration between Soul Food, ERE Collective and Sheriff Projects. A fundraiser, group show and a series of cultural excursions, this project allowed young Soul Food members the time and resources to extensively explore the art of photography. Over the course of the year, 5 young Soul Food members worked with 8 professional photographers and went on multiple photo-based excursions, including a museum visit, street photography and portrait workshops, as well as a visit to Sheriff Art Lab where they gained insights into the processes of printing and retouching fine art images. They were also given disposable cameras and asked to take photographs of their everyday lives, of things that inspire them, rendering the invisible visible and the banal beautiful. The accumulation of these creative encounters is IN/VISIBLE, a collective photography exhibition including work by the photographers and young Soul Food members involved. It highlights the universal possibilities of art to render visible the human aspects of migration, the importance of cultural diversity and the limitless potential of positive integration. <image:caption>As part of a series of philanthropic and ecologically engaged group shows, «What About Us, Honey?» invites into the sphere of pollinators. Inspired by the symbiotic relation between bees and flowers, the exhibitions intends to open a dialogue on the relationship between humans and the environment.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Art direction - MOKORO</image:title>
<image:caption>Kristin Lee-Moolman, Louise Ford and Warembo Wasanii The Warembo Wasanii art studio in Nairobi’s Korogocho area is a visual feast. Hanging on walls are garments in various states of creation. are beer can and clear straw headpieces, a bouquet of plastic cup daffodils, a green pleated skirt made from gunny bags, flattened bottle tops, wild tendrils of computer and charging cables, potted plants and many other odds and ends. It is chaos in order, a sanctuary created by Kenyan artist Joan Otieno for many young women in her community. For the past four years, Joan has taught her female students how to create intricately designed garments and artworks by upcycling plastic polymers sourced from the nearby landfills of Kariobangi and Dandora. The labor involved is self-evident, as is the talent. In their hands objects destined for slow degradation are reimagined and transformed into sculptural ensembles consisting of matching fashion, footwear and headpieces, whimsical, and expertly crafted.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Alex Anyaegbunam resists being defined by or confined to one activity or another. Whether it be music, painting, design or fashion, Alex diligently pushes the boundariesof the expected. Informed by graffiti, where the streets provide the canvas and precision is key, his debut show in Paris doesn’t shy away from making a bold statement. The mixed media paintings on show proclaim a new language, a new world, a vocabulary that stands strongwith no need to prove itself.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Art direction - new suns</image:title>
<image:caption>David Ụzọchukwu The works in David Ụzọchukwu’s New Suns depict Black figures set within richly strange natural landscapes that might be the stuff of dreams or myths, from charred forests to mid- night-dark seas and saffron-coloured deserts. By only situating Black bodies within such environments, Ụzọchukwu invites reflection on the historical marginalisation of people of colour from narratives of the natural world. In the Western imagination, territories such as ‘the frontier’ and ‘the wilderness’ have been sites of exploration or exploitation; virgin territory waiting to be conquered by settlers and adventurers. Black people, Brown people, indigenous peoples existed to be subjugated, enslaved or made extinct. Within fifty years of Christopher Columbus arrival in the New World in 1492, the Taino people of Hispaniola (present-day Haiti and Dominican Republic), who may have numbered up to eight million in population, had been virtually wiped out by diseases brought by Europeans such as smallpox, measles and malaria. The vulnerability of indigenous Caribbean peoples to infection was one of the signal factors in the beginning of the transatlantic slave trade, with Africans thought to be more resilient to disease.</image:caption>
